Masquerade Act Registration
FurFright has one of the most entertaining Masquerades allowed by law, and we want YOU to be a part of it! So put together an act and hit the stage with us! It doesn't matter what your experience level is, or if you have a fursuit or not. The whole point of our Masquerade is to have fun and put on a great show!
We can only accommodate a maximum of 12 acts, so performers are strongly encouraged to pre-register (using the form located at the bottom of this page)! Acts will be accepted first-come, first-serve. Acts that register online and attend the Mandatory Saturday Morning Rehearsal will be counted first. All remaining spaces will be filled by acts only registering at the Saturday Morning Rehearsal. If you have any questions in regards to your act or the format of the show, contact the Masquerade Director well in advance. Don't wait until rehearsal to sort out details!
Rules and Guidelines
There is a mandatory rehearsal Saturday morning (10am) in the Grand Ballroom.
All acts MUST take part in this rehearsal to perform in the show.
Type of Acts
All performances and costumes must be suitable for a general audience. Costumes must meet the guidelines stated in the Code Of Conduct found in the FurFright conbook and on our website. Costumes and acts will be accepted, altered, or rejected at the Masquerade Staff's discretion.
Individuals or groups are welcomed to perform.
The act you perform during Saturday night's show MUST match the act you presented at rehearsal. Any drastic deviation, outbursts, obscenities, or inappropriate behavior will result in your act being immediately halted, a ban from future Masquerades, and possible disciplinary action
Length of Acts
The length of each act is limited to a maximum of 4 minutes. If your music or act is longer than the stated limit, please contact the Masquerade Director and he'll do his best to work with you.
Audio and Stage Requirements
Any music should be in CD format (non-MP3), labeled with your name and the track to be used (we prefer you have just one track on your Masquerade CD to assure the sound fur plays the proper track). Mark your CDs with markers, not adhesive labels. We recommend you bring additional copies of your music in case the original is lost or damaged.
You are responsible for bringing your own materials, including props, costumes, and music. Please do not create elaborate props that are fragile, take a long time to set up/break down, or are overly large. If you need helpers, please try to recruit your own. Do NOT count on FurFright's volunteers, as we don't know how many will be available.
Microphones, chairs, tables, a podium, and an easel will be available for stage use.
Special requests, such as unusual staging requirements or equipment requests may or may not be honored, depending on staff or equipment availability, safety, or compatibility. Ask in advance!
Judging
FurFright's Masquerades are judged by a celebrity panel, and the winners will be honored at the end of the show. Acts will be judged on originality, execution, audience response, and cool points.
If you have any questions or concerns about your act and what's acceptable, contact the Masquerade Director IN ADVANCE! Don't plan an elaborate act just to find out at the con it must be changed or cut.
